Scientific Summary

Stephania rotunda is a perennial herb whose root is harvested and used in dried or powdered form. It is traditionally employed as a cardiovascular tonic—helping to lower blood pressure and relax muscle tone—and as a general remedy for cough, fatigue, and chronic diarrhoea. The root may lower blood pressure, so it should be avoided or used under supervision by people with hypotensive conditions, liver issues, kidney problems, or who are pregnant.
