Osha (Arctostaphylos uva‑viridis) is a shrub native to western North America, whose dried root is commonly harvested and used. It is traditionally employed to support urinary tract health and reduce inflammation, and limited research has recorded relief of urinary symptoms and mild anti‑inflammatory effects. However, osha can irritate skin and stomach, may provoke liver injury with prolonged use, and should be avoided during pregnancy and when taking medications metabolized by the liver.
