Calaguala (Phlebodium decumanum) is a climbing fern whose dried rhizomes are usually ground into a powder or brewed as an infusion. It is used mainly to ease digestive troubles such as dyspepsia, bloating, and flatulence, and to soothe minor skin inflammation and irritation. The herb is generally considered safe at traditional doses, but it should be avoided during pregnancy and high amounts can cause mild stomach upset; consulting a healthcare professional before use is advised.
